CAS requires students to engage in a range of experiences and at least one major project.
A CAS EXPERIENCE is a specific event in which the student engages with one or more of the three CAS strands
A CAS PROJECT is a collaborative series of sequential CAS experiences lasting at least one month.
Projects differ from CAS experiences like attending football training and matches or supporting touch home care because a project must be organised and driven by you and follow the CAS stages.
This process requires students to:
Investigate an issue which often raises questions and sparks curiosity
Prepare to take action by researching and learning more about the issue and context
Take some form of action
Reflect on what they have done along the way
In 2023 students will not engage with ‘Challenge Week’.
Rather, students will work collaboratively in small groups to carry out an independent CAS project with tutor time allocated to support this process and with support from tutors, the enrichment team and enrichment leaders.
The CAS project can be aligned with one or more of the CAS Strands and does not necessarily need to be aligned with service unlike in previous years.
Students will demonstrate their CAS project as a presentation evening that your parents and the extended SJII community will attend at the end of grade 11.
